Garden update!

It is definitely feeling like spring here in Ireland and we have been in the gardening mood (Before pictures here) I'm a bit behind on my update but last weekend Al set up a brilliant potting station in our garage and we fixed our wee greenhouse and planted peas. In previous years we've planted peas in modules and transplanted later in the season but this year we just threw them in. We're all about simple, hassle free gardening these days (and we're a bit braver).

It's so great to have this set up inside so even if its raining you can plant some seeds then just
run to the greenhouse lol

You can't really see here but the top left is all new plastic, it was ripped badly in a storm. It was £20 for a
replacement cover online so we went to B&Q and bought a £3 shower curtain instead - bargain!
This weekend I transplanted a few randoms and covered all the bare soil so the neighbourhood cats would stop using it as a toilet... not fun... Anyway I know it looks a bit messy but we're not too fussed about that, just looking forward to the produce.

We've got leeks, onions, radishes, lettuce, marigolds and rocket coming on in the greenhouse, they'll all end up in that bed soon enough :)

  1. Well done you, you seem to have done a lot. Can i ask you, are those greenhouses very strong and and apart from the spikes do you use anything else to support it.

    1. Thanks new world, those style greenhouses are not very strong, but they are cheap (£25 online)... last year we had it up against the garage wall and just weighed it down with big pots but that didn't work, while we were away on honeymoon it blew all over our garden! I think it'll be fine this year though, Hubby cable tied it to the fence at the very bottom and at the top of the fence and it feels really secure now. This one doesn't have any spikes btw.

  3. I sow my peas straight outside and then sow more into modules, just in case field mice steal the seed or next doors cat digs them up! I have found that peas sown direct do better.

Great potting station and that's a nice long bed, you will get plenty in there. Thanks for visiting my little corner of blog land, I adore your blog and will visit again.

    1. Thanks very much gardensmallholder :) Thats a good idea, I forgot about mice! A few years ago we had a brilliant pea crop so we didn't notice a little mouse was having a field day, we found a pile of empty shells in a corner one day, it must have been about 50 pods!!
