38 Week Baby Update :)

I keep putting off this post because the baby room keeps getting little things added to it and I think 'ooo I have to photograph that to go in the post too' but I realised it's constantly going to change so I should just show you!

Here's our son's bedroom, his special little books, clothes and toys all waiting for him, I am nearly overwhelmed with love and excitement every time I go in here!

Al and I painted the roof and put up the shelves ourselves :)

Just waiting for his wee friend to arrive :)

Classic children's book and one of Al's toys from his childhood :)

Some of Al's treasures from when he was a boy

Al had this printed out for me at christmas - I love it :)

Pre-loved toys, Handmade Pillow, Toys from Al's childhood and what will be our son's first outfit!
The chest of drawers I sanded and repainted to match the room, it's filled to the brim with super cute
clothes all given to us by friends, we havn't bought him any - he has more clothes than me!

Every boy needs a wooden train don't you think?

Tiny shoes and a present from our friend Aine :)

Well thats the baby room! We love how it's turned out and we've stuck to our philosophy of lots of books 'no plastic crap' lol and second hand items :)

I am keeping really well, still loving being pregnant! The pace has slowed down a bit around here, more relaxing and early nights. Baby boy is so big now and still as active as ever, my tummy really does look alien at times now! Sometimes you can even see that it's his foot sticking out, he loves sticking his foot out hehe. I think he's getting ready to make a move over the next few weeks since he's dropped down lower and I'm getting lots of practice contractions.

It's all so exciting and we just love it! I'm looking forward to his arrival but also not wishing these last few precious days/weeks of being pregnant away. I know he'll arrive at the perfect time for him :)

    1. Thanks mark and I totally agree, the hungry caterpillar was one of the books we bought new because no one gives them to the charity shops!

  3. How stunning! I love the bookcase, and having some of his daddy's childhood toys in the room is a lovely touch :) . I'm all for the 'no plastic crap' philosophy, and you've definitely acheieved that. Your son is a lucky boy, hope that you enjoy your last few weeks before he arrives, and that the arrival goes well xx

  4. The only thing GD has had to buy is new mattresses for the moses basket and cot that she slept in as a child! Baby Delilah is now one week old. GD's advice to you for labour: relax and go with your body. xxx

    1. Thats awesome, I love that her baby got her old cot - something my nomadic family could never do lol So glad everything is well with your family, I loved the baby slippers photo! Little feet are my favourite!

Please tell GD thanks for the sound advice, I have full faith in my body's abilities and am looking forward to the experience. Relaxation I think will definitely be key :) xxx

  8. Astra, what a beautiful room - I can feel your love for your son :-) What Do People Do All Day was one of my favourites when I was young. Wow not long now until he arrives. I like FM's advice, it's really good advice - relax & go with your body, it's all you can do and enjoy one of the most amazing experiences of your life. I'm so excited for you. Wishing you all the best. Sx

Richard Scarry was my favourite, I had told Al about that book years ago and christmas 2011 when we were on honeymoon he gave it too me because we had planned to start a family in 2013 and he knew I'd love to read it to our cildren - I burst into tears lol

Thanks for the good wishes and you're right it will be the most amazing experience so I plan to enjoy it! xx

    1. Hi amanda :) the ceiling was tricky, we measured the ends first to get the lines the same size and centred then held up a length of wood to pencil along, then stuck masking tape up, then 2 coats of paint, the masking tape off and touch ups... Sore necks and shoulders all round lol So worth it tho, we love the way it brightens and funks up the room :)

Thats a good reminder, I'm saying any day now but he could still be a month away from ready! You really don't know do you!? I've promised him I'll be patient tho and now hurry/wish him out, He will know when it's the right time :) xx
