Best friends :)

Some friends you just feel so lucky to have - the type that fly from Australia to be at your wedding (in Ireland) then 2 years later come all the way back to meet your new baby. Aza came to stay last week, it was awesome :)

"Hmmm this guy looks nice, not 100% sure yet though..."

"OK I'm sure, yes I love him, he's so funny!"
Aza and I went to school together and are super-close, brother sister style. He was there through the punk rocker stage, the feminist stage, the "I'm never gonna have kids" stage (hard to believe hey?!) plus we lived together twice. So to see him all these years later, and us both all grown up, and him bonding with my son is just amazing, makes me a bit emotional actually, and Ché Phoenix totally loves him!

While he was here we mostly just relaxed and chatted, Aza is really intelligent and a good conversationalist so we got into some interesting discussions :) But we did go to the new Titanic museum in Belfast one day and took a drive up the coast on another. We went to Bushmills (yes we stocked up on whiskey!), the Giants Causeway and followed the coastline home, it was a great day.

Aza likes to pretend he doesn't like kids, or babies. Maybe he doesn't like MOST babies but even if he won't admit it, I know he loves Ché Phoenix, come on, how could you not?

  1. It's funny, a lot of people don't like babies... until it's someone close to them and you put them in their arms. Then they melt. Babies are skilled like that.

  2. Friends like that are so special & you are so lucky to still have him in your life. I have/had one like that, but it's tricky now we are all grown up with our own spouses. We used to have great conversations. I still consider him a close friend even though I have not talked to him for several years.

The scenery shots are beautiful & I love the way Che Phoenix is looking at him in the first photo :-)

    1. I sometimes forget that its not 'normal' to have such a close friendship with a guy when your married! Him and Al are good friends now too, if they didn't get on it would be really hard. I remember being so nervous before they met for the first time, luckily though Al isn't the jealous type at all and they hit it off right from the start :) x

  3. Hubby and I have always had good friends of both genders. I know it's odd for some couples but for us it's totally normal -- I'm glad you can have that kind of unique bond with your friend and your husband. I see it as exceedingly healthy!

    1. Haha sorry auntie, yes I am a feminist with regards to equal rights and opportunities and my son will be too! What I refer to is my over-the-top "what, you think I cant open the door myself?" stage and "god help any guy who tries to pay for anything for me" stage! I feel bad for my early male friends and boyfriends, I was hard work lol
